29.06.2014 - The Number Ones/Big Wow/The Repossessed - Pop Records, Sunderland

Trip down to Sunderland, to go to Pop Records for an afternoon in store gig. Pop Records has moved and still in Sunderland but hosts a bigger venue for bands.

The Number Ones played I would say power pop, really good stuff! One band I ended up with two copies of their album, the one I bought here was a tour version limited to 50, assume a test pressing as read the label couldn't get the full first press in time? They did ask during their set about anyone famous from Sunderland which someone in the crowd shouted "Wearside Jack", I thought that was hilarious, don't think others did!

Big Wow came from Leeds, quirky punk ex-Offshore Radio and Fig 4.0, a lot different than what they did with Fig 4.0. Still haven't got their LP and it's been out 10 years, think the horrible cover has put me off over the years!

The Repossessed were fucking amazing! Blazing punk from Sheffield! Wish they had did more then the demo tape and 7". I know the singer was on Come Dine With Me!

But yeah, proper good band and glad I got to see them play!

Martha didn't play this gig.
