Soon as this got announced I was pretty siked to see Ramleh again, especially as a four-piece band doing their noise rock work as opposed the last time I saw them 15 years ago as a duo doing power electronics (which as also very good!).
Night kicked off with Skintern, not sure where they are from, maybe London?
A nice mix of noise rock and hardcore punk, they had a film showing in the background which I'm surprised no one moaned about, guess if it was at the Star and Shadow maybe...film was a bit of BDSM stuff on a loop. It added to the performance as could imagine this sort of stuff when Ramleh were playing in their early days or any early 80's power electronics band.
There was a bit where someone got on stage and cut the guitarists forehead and blood got everywhere, again part of the performance and not done in spite. Though where I was in the crowd, I thought the bloke had a bit of his hair cut, not sure why!
Look forward to picking up any demo or release this band may do and would see a again.
Been a while since I've seen Louse play and they have just recently come back from short Euro tour with Brak.
Also been busy releasing stuff as think in a period of a year they have put out an LP, 12" EP, split 10" with The Shits and a split tour tape with Brak.
Good to hear the newish stuff live, sleazy noise rock!
Callum from the Shits had been busy this gig, having drummed for Skintern and Louse and now up on vocal duties for The Shits.
Honestly think the majority of the crowd were here for them to be fair. I like the Shits, don't like having the shits...
Think a couple of new songs were played, know the new album has been recorded and will be out some time soon.
A bit of a late start to Ramleh's set but that didn't matter as they were phenomenal live. Think I would say this was better than the last time I saw them! Cracking noise rock and looking forward to the new album by them.
I did have to go before them finished for the last metro but saw nearly an hour of something rather magnificent!
One gripe I did have, was the cunt who kept talking all the way through the set. I moved a couple of times to get away from him and his mates and he seemed to be behind me everywhere I went! If you want to talk to your mates, then fuck off outside?
