28.01.2002 - Andrew WK/Black Rebel Motorcyle Club/Lostprophets/The Coral - Newcastle University

Another NME tour with a mix of different bands!

Lostprophets were just around this time becoming massive due to the single, Shinobivsdragonninja and Andrew WK was if I recall in the top ten thanks to Party Hard!

Only caught bits of the Coral, who at the time I wasn't keen on so me and my mates were hanging in a part of the venue where you couldn't see the bands but still hear them play.

Lostprophets were good live and was the first and only time I ever went crowd surfing, got punched in the balls off someone, who got my foot in their face for that!

B.R.M.C. I did enjoy, first album is still great, though never arsed myself with the others!

Only saw 4 songs of Andrew WK's set as one of the mates I was with wanted to home, so I went and got the metro back with him. Wasn't till a couple of years back did I know Andrew WK had a link to the noise band Wolf Eyes.

Other things that happened at this gig.

Mates’ girlfriend acting like she was mortal and telling everyone she was drunk when she wasn't!

Getting caught and grassed up for underage drinking by one of our schoolteachers that was also at the gig!

Mate getting his bus pass signed by Ian Watkins, the nonce from Lostprophets - mean got my ticket signed by him as well but mean it was the ticket and not a bus pass. Mate now claims this never happened, but it did! Think you can see a bit of the signature on my ticket as he signed on the back!

Looking back on that stuff, makes me wonder if the singer from Lostprophets was scanning the area for underage lasses...
