First ever gig, which was an NME tour hence the strange (I suppose) line up.
Went with a few mates with school, one who thought he didn't have to buy a ticket in advance and just rock up and pay on the door!
Got there and the queue was massive and think it had been raining, plus mid-January it was canny cold. Mate waited with us in the queue for about 40 minutes until he got to the entrance and told it was sold out!
We had mainly gone to see Amen as we were, I guess, moshers?! I did enjoy the Amen set and jumped around like the 16-year-old twat I was at the time! Ended up getting an Amen postcard for the album at the time signed by Casey Chaos, which I still have somewhere!
Starsailor, Alfie and JJ72 were pretty shit. Not even sure what happened to Alfie after that, I think they did return at a later date. Starsailor and JJ72 did seem to be more successful for a while.
One daft moment that always stays in my mind, is two of the lasses that were in our group were talking during the bands and it went quiet when the song ended only for one to say too loudly, "You're 16 now, you can have sex!", the other lass went very red as a few people looked at them!
In hindsight, it isn't funny but as a teenager it seemed so hilarious at the time!
