Apparently, there had been some technical difficulties setting this gig up, Martyn had said everything was coming out in mono instead of stereo, not that I could tell as my hearing is knackered anyway!
Mainly came to see Marina Zispin as it's my mate’s band and missed them the last time they played.
Really good 80's style synth-pop, Flowers in the Sea (video below) is a nice blissed out track which I think is a great summertime track!
They have a 12" out on Night School Records, which I only recently got, think it is a more polished version of the digital EP they put out a couple of years back.
Only managed to see about five songs of their set as it was cutting it close for getting home. Great set and some of the new songs sounded great
Vigilance State are another local duo playing darkwave, opened up the night. They were ok, not great and there were bits, musically that were good but then bits that were dreadful.
Second up were Soft Riot, a one man synth pop machine from Glasgow. Looked kinda like Gary Numan, if Gary Newman had joined the Jesus and the Mary Chain!
Again, was a mix of bits that were great and bits that were awful!
Not sure where Those Holy are from, their Bandcamp -says Liverpool and they play Cold Celtic Electronics!
Really enjoyed their set, started off nice and noise and then into nice ambient with beats and noise!
Would see these again and hopefully they get some more stuff up on their bandcamp to listen to!
In-between sets we had the Volcano Sister's DJ-ing, playing a lot of cold/darkwave artists which was fairly decent.
